Oak Cliff Cultural Center presents #214Selena – A Dallas Tribute to Selena March 30th and 31st, 2018 // Dallas, Texas in collaboration with De Colores Collective, Sour Grapes, Faded Deejays, and Top Ten Records

The #214Selena event in Dallas pays homage to the legendary Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla-Perez. Now in its fifth year, this celebration of the Mexican-American musical icon has grown into a signature series that honors the life and music of Selena.

>>>The tribute begins with a screening of a film about Selena at the Texas Theatre at 7pm followed by an Art Show and Mural unveiling at Top Ten Records at 9pm on Friday, March 30th – (Art show is free and open the public). <<<<<<
The kickoff is followed by Selena Day that will host a Lookalike Contest, Lowrider Show, and vendor market at Country Burger in Oak Cliff, which is also a widely recognized hub of Selena memorabilia in Dallas. This portion of the event is all ages, and from 2pm to 6pm.

The Lookalike Contest will host contestants presenting their impressions of the late singer through song, dance, and likeness. Car Clubs will be present with their award winning Lowrider cars while vendors will make up a Selena themed pop-up market. The celebration of Quintanilla-Perez’ life wraps up Saturday night with the popular lookalike contest and music by the Faded Deejays at Club Dada in Deep Ellum. This final event is from 10pm to 2am and is 21 and up. All events are free and open to the public.
#214Selena aims to pay homage to one of the most impactful artists to the Latino community and highlight the resounding effect Quintanilla-Perez’ music has in modern culture. A pivotal figure in American society, the music of Selena continues to contribute to the fabric of everyday life in communities that go beyond Mexican diaspora in America and on to a global scale.
